Univ. Prof. Hartmut Keil
The conductor Hartmut Keil was born in 1978 in Wesel on the Lower Rhine. From 2002-2016 he worked as a repetiteur, Kapellmeister and study director at the Frankfurt Opera, where he conducted a broad repertoire ranging from the great Mozart operas to La Traviata and Die Fledermaus to Tosca and Lohengrin, among others. From 2017-2020 he was engaged as First Kapellmeister at the Theater Bremen. There he conducted Rusalka and The Rake's Progress as well as The Flying Dutchman. In 2019, he received a nomination as Conductor of the Year in "Opernwelt" for conducting the premiere of Lulu in Bremen.Hartmut Keil has worked as a guest conductor at the Bregenz Festival (Die Zauberflöte on the Seebühne with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as well as the Da Ponte operas at the Landestheater with the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra), the Theater Basel (including Daphne, Elektra and La Forza del destino) and the Staatstheater Darmstadt (Ariadne auf Naxos). Concerts with the Ensemble Modern and the Stuttgart Ensemble Ascolta prove his competence in the field of New Music.Since 2003 Hartmut Keil has been a regular musical assistant and study leader at the Bayreuth Festival. There he also conducted Tannhäuser, the Ring of the Nibelung and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in versions for children, some of which he created himself. With Norbert Ernst and the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder), he released the CD "Lebt kein Gott" with works by Beethoven, Weber and Wagner on the Decca label.Hartmut Keil held a teaching position at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg from 2004-2009 and currently also teaches score playing at the Zurich University of the Arts.
